The Shutter Shield is an interface designed to mount on an Arduino, and trip the shutter in your DSLR, or shutter-release-equipped camera. This can be used as a shutter timer, time-lapse photography controller, remote shutter release, wireless remote (for canon cameras equipped with IR communication), or just to catch your little brother entering your room.
An 1/8″ jack is supplied to allow for custom cable configurations, which will allow for connection of all Canon and Nikon DSLRs. (I have not tested Sony/Pentax, Leica, etc. due to inaccessibility of test subjects. I’d be happy to help you build up your own cable, if you contact me.)
And IR LED is used to talk to certain Canon models (mostly the rebel series) equipped with IR ports. This can be used to trip the shutter, wirelessly, when the arduino is battery powered. See our LiPo Shield for portable juice!
The Shutter Shield supports standard 16×2 LCD screens, as well as the 8×2 screen sold by Pololu. This gives a choice of readability, or portability.
Firmware will be available soon, open source, of course.
